The New Zealand Cargo Owners Council welcomes the freight system initiatives announced by Transport Minister Chris Bishop today.
These initiatives respond to calls made by the Council, most recently to the Transport Select Committee, for urgent focus on the efficient movement of freight as a critical enabler for economic growth and wellbeing; for the capture of meaningful freight data to support co-ordinated, rational investment in infrastructure; and for greater opportunities for major users and operators of the freight supply chain to contribute to the policy and planning discussion.
